The Best Places in 10th Arrondissement

  1. A vintage Citroën Acadiane converted into an espresso bar in the lobby tells you pretty much everything about this hotel's personality. The 25hours Terminus Nord is a design-forward hotel right across from the Gare du Nord, with rooms sized Small through Extra Large and interiors that lean into African and Asian aesthetics rather than anything vaguely Haussmann. The pan-Asian restaurant and the Sape Bar keep the social spaces lively, and a loaner bike waits if you want to explore the 10th.

  2. Sandwiched between the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l'Est, this boutique hotel is the first hospitality project by English designer Luke Edward Hall, who describes the result as "a little bonkers." That's fair: the palette runs hot, the patterns clash joyfully, and even the basement gym got the full treatment. Rooms are cozy rather than sprawling, but a few have balconies, and none of them let you forget where you are.

  3. Every room at this boutique hotel comes with its own marble bartop, icemaker, and a full set of barman's tools, which tells you where the priorities lie. It sits where the 10th meets the 3rd, closer to Canal Saint-Martin than to anywhere tourists typically flock, and the interiors lean into urban Parisian romance without tipping into kitsch. The cocktail bar downstairs makes it a destination in its own right. Michelin has awarded it one Key.

  13. Freestanding bathtubs a few steps from the bed and no TV in sight set the tone at this boutique hotel in the 10th, loosely inspired by the Japanese love hotel concept. Bookshelves line the walls, jewel tones everywhere, a Helmut Newton print here and there, minimalist graffiti across the shower tiles. The bistro and courtyard garden pull a stylish crowd even if they're not staying, which makes lingering over an aperitif considerably easier.

  14. A boutique hotel on a quiet square in the 3rd, a short walk from Le Marais, built inside the former home of Renaissance polymath Salomon de Caus. The marble facade and Art Nouveau glass roof over the breakfast room do a lot of the work, and the compact rooms keep things simple: parquet floors, black-and-white palette, oil paintings on every wall. The open kitchen will hand you a cheese plate and a glass of wine whenever you need one.

  15. Bloom House takes its name at face value: the 10th arrondissement boutique hotel is carpeted in floral textures, live greenery, and warm organic materials, which lands as a genuine shock if you've just rolled in from Gare du Nord two blocks away. The 91 rooms run compact but eclectic, some with balconies and wide views, and an 18-meter indoor pool anchors the spa. A bar and a poolside Mediterranean kitchen round out the restoration project.

  16. Rank 16. Gravity Bar

    Cocktail Bar

The ceiling ripples overhead like a frozen wooden wave, the bar curves like a boulder, and the whole room reads as a design project by someone who spent years as an artistic director before pivoting to cocktails and extreme sports. Near Canal Saint-Martin, Gravity Bar is a cocktail bar where the concept lands before you've even ordered, which is either reassuring or a challenge, depending on your mood.

  17. Rank 17. CopperBay

    Cocktail Bar

Big front windows and light wood panelling set CopperBay apart from the usual Paris cocktail bar, which tends to treat darkness as a personality. This cocktail bar in the 10th keeps pastis and classics on the menu alongside original creations that earn some genuine attention. The 50 gave it a Discovery nod, which tracks for a place that reads as both grown-up and quietly confident without making a production of either.

  18. Rank 17. Le Syndicat

    Cocktail Bar

Hip-hop on the speakers and a strict French-spirits-only policy behind the bar: Le Syndicat runs on a kind of proud, earnest nationalism that somehow never feels corny. The cocktail bar calls itself an organisation for the defense of French spirits, and the rotating menus take that brief seriously, finding unexpected angles on cognac, calvados, and Marc de Bourgogne. The industrial room on the Faubourg Saint-Denis fills with a crowd that dresses like it lives there.

  19. Paint tins and old Coke crates serve as stools, which tells you most of what you need to know about this bar's energy before you've ordered a drink. Tucked into a courtyard off a street full of Chinese restaurants in the Marais, Andy Wahloo mixes graffiti, Pierre et Gilles kitsch, and geometric tiles under a French electro-house soundtrack. The crowd dresses accordingly. It's a bar that commits fully to its own absurd logic, and somehow it works.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
