The nameplate calligraphy was done by Teiichi Yuki, the founding visionary of the Kitcho group, which tells you something about the lineage this kaiseki restaurant carries quietly on its shoulders. A second-generation chef runs the kitchen inside a tea-ceremony-style house, where the decor is spare enough that the seasonal hassun platters do all the talking. A Michelin star sits on the shelf, and the room feels like it has never once needed to announce itself.
