Dim Sum Chinese
The carts find you before you find your seat, which is how it works at this Flushing dim sum hall. Oversized round tables, ornate chandeliers, bamboo plants, and enough shumai to reconsider your weekend plans. No menu required; most regulars never open one. Weekends get loud and frenetic in a very satisfying way, so an early arrival is less a suggestion than a survival strategy. The Michelin Guide has it listed among their selected restaurants.

Steamed shumai
“In a blur, the likes of steamed shumai packed with pork and shrimp, spareribs with rice starch and black beans, chicken and ham wrapped in yuba, and poached jellyfish with scallions and sesame crowd your table.”
