To reach the back dining rooms at Bar Cañete, you walk straight through the kitchen, which tells you something about how the place operates. It's a tapas bar a short walk from the Liceu, built around a long counter and market ingredients treated with as little fuss as possible. Anchovies, cockles, clams, fried artichokes. Order the pan amb tomàquet no matter what else you get; regulars don't need reminding.
