The building that houses this hotel was designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the modernista architect whose other work earned UNESCO World Heritage status, which puts him roughly in Gaudí's league while attracting a fraction of the tour groups. Inside, black mosaic floors and fluted pillars give way to guest rooms done in dark, calm tones. The rooftop terrace with panoramic city views is the real draw for anyone in the neighborhood, guest or not.
