On the road toward the Cobá ruins, just past where the tourist noise of Tulum fades, Cetli serves Mayan Mexican cooking in a whitewashed room brightened by folk paintings and old artifacts on rustic wood tables. Fish cooked in seawater with almond mole and dark chocolate is the kind of dish that makes the drive feel incidental. The Michelin Guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand, which tracks for a room where the food is doing most of the talking.
