Chantoiseau
Modern French
Chantoiseau is a modern French restaurant on rue Lepic, partway up the Montmartre hill where the tourists thin out and the dinner reservations get serious. The à la carte menu runs fine-dining, but the weekday lunch is a fixed three courses with no choosing, which suits anyone who finds decisions tiring. The pork comes with green beans so rich nobody would be told to eat them. Neat shirt, no tie.

“Frankly, given the real estate, the lobster doesn’t need to be this succulent, nor does the creamy corn pudding so good we’d lick the bowl.”
