    Charlie's has been a Phoenix institution since 1984, when a country bar founded by a gay rodeo pioneer opened its doors to urban cowboys and has since grown into a sprawling complex with a dance floor, outdoor patio, and a taco truck parked permanently out front. The crowd is as varied as the programming—drag, Latin nights, karaoke, and legendary after-hours weekend dances draw the whole spectrum of the LGBT community.
