A 14th-century fireplace anchors the Guard Room of this hotel, tucked inside a medieval hilltop village above the Côte d'Azur. Each of the 28 rooms is individually named after an artist connected to the region, with hand-painted details and heavy drapery softened by heated floors and stone sinks. The restaurant's retractable roof opens to sea views over a glass of Bandol. Renoir drew inspiration here; Bardot and Garbo came to hide. The tradition holds.
