Château Le Nessay

A turreted château perched at the tip of a peninsula, surrounded by harbor water on nearly every side. The hotel keeps fewer rooms than you'd expect for a castle of this vintage, split between the main house and outbuildings, each one facing the beach or the open sea. Inside, the décor skews understated and rustic rather than ancestral-portrait formal, which is a relief. There's a restaurant and bar on site, and the village is an easy walk when you want out.
