The lodge is shaped like a Maori fish hook cascading down a hillside above Owhanake Bay, which is either a design choice or a very confident metaphor. This intimate retreat on Waiheke Island holds just six units across suites, a villa, and an apartment, so the ratio of infinity pool to guest is refreshingly high. The ferry from Auckland takes 35 minutes, and the island's vineyards and beaches take considerably longer to leave.
