    The Fairmont sits inside one of Baku's three flame-shaped skyscrapers, which glow like a gas burner over the Caspian at night, so you can clock your hotel from across the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the 299 rooms frame either the sea or the medieval Old City below, and the marble lobby lands somewhere between grand and theatrical. A spa with a hammam and heated pool, plus a jazz bar for evening cocktails, round things out. Forbes Four Star.
