A barely-there sign on Beacon Hill marks this casual Guamanian restaurant and bar, which is either accidental humility or the universe's way of filtering out TikTokers (it has not worked). The menu follows the chef's biography through Filipino chicken adobo tacos and Guam-style corn soup, but the achiote-orange empanadas, stuffed with raisined beef and served in a pool of fina'denne', are what drew a James Beard semifinalist nod in 2025.

    The dishes from the writeups

    • Smashburger

“When the pickle-packed smashburger and crisp, thin french fries went viral earlier in 2024, visiting tourists and camera-toting TikTokkers trampled all over that idea.”

      Seattle Met, 2024
    • Chicken adobo tacos

“The diners lined up at opening time are there for the burger, sure, but also piquant chicken adobo tacos and batchoy “La Paz Style,” an envelopingly unctuous noodle soup of pig offal and fermented shrimp broth.”

      The New York Times, 2024
    • Typhoon Donuts

“And if you don’t end with the fried-to-order Typhoon Donuts with white-peach coulis, you’ve left your meal unfinished.”

      The New York Times, 2024

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
