The vaulted brick ceiling down below used to store coal; now it's where you eat oxtail ravioli in one of Madrid's more atmospheric dining rooms. The building was the city's oldest hardware store, and the ground-floor bar still has that feel, all worn surfaces and unhurried locals. Traditional Spanish cooking runs through the menu, given a careful modern touch without losing its footing. Tucked off Atocha, it surprises in the way old buildings tend to.
