    A few steps below street level in old Rabat, The Cave is literally carved from rock and comes with its own tasting menu, which sets the mood before a single plate arrives. Grotto Tavern is a modern cuisine restaurant split between that candlelit grotto and a garden room dense with ornamental plants. The cooking stays close to Maltese produce and tradition, then nudges both in a quieter, more creative direction.
