    Damascus mother-of-pearl tables, Persian rugs, Venetian blinds, and a library's worth of quiet atmosphere: the dining room at Hotel Albergo earns its keep in a city full of reasons to leave the hotel. The mix of Oriental chintz and Mediterranean warmth makes it feel more like a collector's apartment than a restaurant, which is probably why it has become a destination rather than a fallback for guests too tired to go out.
