    The building's curved silhouette is modeled on a guqin, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument, which gives this hotel on Tianmu Qintai Island a shape that reads as either bold architecture or an elaborate icebreaker, depending on your mood. Rooms on the upper floors look out over the Tianmu River and across Hengqin, a cluster of artificial islands south of Macau that splits the difference between business hub and resort. The top-floor lounge claims the sharpest views.
