A Gothic-ish landmark from the 1920s with a glass tower grafted on top, Hotel Magnolia is Santiago's first proper design hotel, and it arrived without apology. Art Deco bones meet sleek contemporary furniture and loft-style rooms in warm organic materials, historically informed but not remotely nostalgic. Downstairs there's modern Chilean food and pisco sours; upstairs a rooftop bar looks out over El Centro. It holds a Michelin Key.
