    Terra cotta bricks by Swiss-Italian architect Mario Botta give this business hotel in the old French Concession a geometric facade that feels deliberate rather than decorative. Inside, an elliptical courtyard offers an unlikely patch of green, and rooms go Art Deco with a Chinese inflection, big windows, and bathrooms that lean generous. Restaurants cover both international and Cantonese ground, and the spa has a solid reputation around town.
