A horigotatsu counter where a husband-and-wife team runs the whole room, and the kind of place that keeps its regulars so loyal the menu was built around them. This is a neighbourhood Japanese restaurant in the old Kyoto style, lunch as omakase sets, evenings opening up to à la carte. The assorted appetiser platter leans on old-school technique, and a wooden bowl of fishcake in clear broth is exactly what you want on a cold evening. The Michelin Guide awards it a Bib Gourmand.
