    Bar 168 sits on three sides of water, which sets the tone: Kimpton brought its first mainland China hotel not to Shanghai but to Suzhou, and spent some effort making it feel like it belongs. Low buildings thread between gardens and canals, the 178 rooms run a little more luxurious than the brand's usual register, and the restaurants cover omakase to regional Huaiyang cooking. Pet-friendly, warm, and selected by the Michelin Guide.
