A gate and a garden sculpted to look effortless set the tone before you even reach the door of this two-Michelin-starred ryotei in Higashiyama. The sukiya-style building is the kind carpenters apparently trained lifetimes to earn the right to construct. Private rooms, some with counter seating, host a kaiseki sensibility that quietly smuggles Western flame techniques into the meat courses, pairing them with sake as if that were always the plan.
