La Résidence Phou Vao

A French colonial property perched on a hill two kilometers outside Luang Prabang, with thirty-four rooms, all private terraces, and forested mountain views in every direction. The gardens are dense and deliberately disorienting, which suits a place built for losing track of time. A pool, a spa, and a cocktail lounge round things out, and the terrazzo baths are large enough to suggest the designers had strong feelings about bathing.
