Le Chêne
French
When a pithivier comes out of the kitchen at Le Chêne, the whole room looks, and it earns the attention. This snug West Village French restaurant holds two Michelin stars and cooks like it's proving a point about classical technique, foie gras terrines, vin jaune sauces, and all. Tables are packed close, the ceiling is low, and a curved bar up front takes walk-ins. The wine list is serious and runs deep.
