Ivy climbs the stone walls of a 14th-century priory that has been a hotel since the mid-20th century, sitting quietly in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon just across the Rhône from Avignon itself. Older rooms inside the priory lean traditional; annex suites trade some of that atmosphere for balconies over the courtyard pool. The restaurant serves regional Provençal food under medieval arches, or outside in summer. A Michelin Key hotel, and a convincing argument for doing absolutely nothing, beautifully.
