A low archway off a quiet stone street leads into this small hotel two blocks from La Rochelle's historic port, and the modest facade does a reasonable job hiding what's inside. The lounge is the surprise: blonde wood floors, a sculptural fireplace, and a wall of glass that floods the room with light. Rooms are compact and neutral, covering the essentials without fuss. A breakfast buffet and a small bar with sidewalk seating handle the rest.
