  1. Le Sourire

    Modern French

A Japanese chef cooking pâté en croûte and duck pithiviers with more conviction than most French chefs can muster sets the tone at this fine dining room in La Doutre. The menu reads like a love letter to classical French cooking, with the occasional quiet aside, foie gras marinated in sake, beef over binchotan, that remind you who's actually in the kitchen. Evenings lean more ambitious, but the warm room is a constant.

    One honor, in evidence:

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
