    The pink umbrellas around the infinity pool nod to this island's past life as the Pink Sands club, a detail the Mandarin Oriental kept when it remade Canouan into a Forbes Five Star resort. Canouan itself barely shows up on the Caribbean radar, which is precisely the point: minimal development, butler service, and nesting sea turtles on the beach. The crowds are small enough that you'll learn the staff's names before checkout.
