    Stone lions from a medieval duke's residence still stand inside this heritage hotel on Hvar's main square, which says something about the tenure. The building spent centuries as a palace before becoming a hotel, carrying Venetian and Austrian bones through every renovation since. Sea-view balconies, hand-painted murals, and a spa with an indoor pool keep things comfortable. The Michelin Guide awarded it 2 Keys.
