The name comes from a long-lost family house in Burton on Trent, and the brewing heritage goes back centuries, which is a lot of backstory for a gastropub on Kensington Church Street. Cask ales anchor the offer, and the kitchen builds a daily-changing menu around simple, seasonal British cooking with classical European touches. The food is there to keep company with the beer, not to upstage it, and mostly it holds to that bargain.
