    Kengo Kuma designed this high-rise hotel on the edge of the Imperial Palace grounds, and the minimalist aesthetic is persuasive enough that you'll feel guilty leaving a toiletry cap off. Shoji screens, vast windows, and a view that's either all neon galaxy or, facing the Palace, total darkness. The Forbes Five Star and Michelin two-key property draws dignitaries who value the Hie Shrine greenery as a buffer from the city it's somehow also in the middle of.
