    The former U.S. Embassy on Grosvenor Square, all brutalist geometry and that famous golden eagle still perched on the roof, is now a Mayfair all-suite hotel. David Chipperfield's bones, Joseph Dirand's interiors: spare, tactile, expensive-feeling without trying. All 144 rooms are suites, eight bars and restaurants fill the building, and Carbone made its European debut here for anyone keeping score.
