    A 1901 mansion that has cycled through names and owners until the Althoff Collection got hold of it and turned it into a quietly serious luxury hotel built around a courtyard so calm you'll forget the banking district is three bridges away. Sachsenhausen's museum strip is walkable, two restaurants cover the full range from dressed-up to casual, and there's a cigar lounge that announces its intentions upfront. The spa and pool handle the rest.
