    A 25-story Brutalist tower near the Embarcadero that got a very good interior decorator, The Jay is a design-forward hotel where midcentury California aesthetics meet Japanese-American modernist influences, courtesy of AvroKO's Ruth Asawa-inspired rooms. Tone-on-tone colors, warm wood, and custom art fill even the smallest rooms, which still run over 400 square feet. Ask for something above the 15th floor and the Bay Bridge fills your window.
