A ferry ride from Padstow drops you in Rock, where this large, buzzy gastropub sits right on the estuary with terrace views over the Camel. Part of Paul Ainsworth's Cornish stable, it leans into hearty, no-nonsense British cooking: shepherd's pie and fish and chips alongside whatever the day boats brought in. The crowd arrives sunburned and hungry, which is more or less exactly the clientele the place was built for.
