1. One of Beijing's grand old luxury hotels, The Peninsula does the all-suite thing, meaning the smallest room still has a separate bedroom, living room, and a bathroom bigger than most apartments. The lobby is all white marble and ink paintings, which sets the tone nicely. Afternoon tea here is a genuine ritual, and the two in-house restaurants, one French and one Cantonese, are worth staying in for.
