    A private island in the middle of Doha sounds like a marketing exaggeration until you're actually standing on a sandy beach with the West Bay skyline behind you. This Forbes Four Star resort keeps the city close enough to reach easily while making it feel far enough away to ignore. Rooms run large, the pool meanders out to a swim-up bar, and between a steakhouse, a French brasserie, and a pan-Asian lounge, leaving the island for dinner takes some motivation.
