    Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton got married here, which tells you most of what you need to know about the register this hotel has always played in. A grand, old-school property anchoring the Golden Square Mile, it sits close to the Museum of Fine Arts and a stretch of serious shopping. The rooms run quietly luxurious, the service formal without being stiff, and the whole place carries the easy confidence of somewhere that has never needed to explain itself.
