1. The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas

    This is a full-on Ritz-Carlton beach resort sitting right on Great Bay, which means ocean views from basically everywhere you look. Two pools, a strip of sand, kayaking and snorkeling on the house, a DJ all afternoon, and live music after dark. Families get their own pool; adults get the infinity one with the cabanas, which is a civilized arrangement. The kind of place where your biggest decision is whether to order another cocktail before or after the paddleboard.
