    Beacon Hill is the kind of neighborhood that eyes new arrivals with suspicion, so a boutique hotel on Charles Street has something to prove. The Whitney pulls it off with red brick on the outside and interiors that split the difference between old-money Boston and something you'd actually want to photograph. It holds two Michelin Keys, and the Longfellow Bridge is right there if you need a walk to justify the room rate.
