A 40-villa resort perched on a ridge above the Valley of the Kings, just outside Ubud, where the valley below is dotted with shrines and water temples going back centuries. The setting does a lot of the work before you even unpack. Arrive by road from the airport, or, if you feel the occasion demands it, by helicopter along the Petanu River Gorge, which takes about twelve minutes and requires very little justification.
