Orders get called out over a crackling intercom at this warehouse-sized Indo canteen and grocery store in Berkeley, where metal trays and disposable sporks set the tone immediately. The chaat is the reason to come, those hollow puffs and tamarind-drenched bites that make the whole elaborate category make sense. Thalis, tandoori chicken, and a glass case of colorful sweets fill out the picture. The San Francisco Chronicle has it in their Top 100 Bay Area restaurants.
