The best places to stay and do in Al-Riyadh, according to the experts: the Forbes Travel Guide, the Michelin Guide, and The 50 have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh at Kingdom Centre comes out on top.

More Less

The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh and The St. Regis Riyadh Spa hold the next two places. The Forbes Travel Guide shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with the Michelin Guide next.

  1. Perched inside the 99-floor Kingdom Centre Tower, this Forbes Five Star hotel is connected directly to one of Riyadh's grandest malls, which tells you something about the scale of ambition here. The lobby arrives with marble floors, soaring ceilings, and a row of sculptural palms that read more as architectural statement than decor. Private butlers and a Clefs d'Or concierge team handle the details, and At-Turaif is an easy trip from the door.

  2. The lobby chandelier situation here is not subtle, and that is entirely the point. This Forbes Five Star hotel was designed as a royal palace before it became one, and the marble, gold, and ornate ceiling moldings left nothing behind in the transition. Fifty-two acres of manicured grounds sit beside the Diplomatic Quarter, which tells you something about the clientele. Pack accordingly.

  4. Only 83 rooms in a city that tends to go bigger at every turn. The St. Regis Riyadh is a hotel in the Via Riyadh district that earns its Forbes Four Star rating by staying deliberately small, pairing Art Deco touches borrowed from the brand's New York roots with a classic Saudi design palette of gold and bronze. Butler service is standard, and the pool is the kind of shaded, greenery-wrapped refuge that feels genuinely scarce in Riyadh.

  5. Sandstone cliffs rise on all sides as you pull in, which sets the tone for what Bab Samhan is doing: a Luxury Collection hotel planted at the edge of Diriyah's desert, where the architecture leans hard into arched doorways and mosaic work rather than the generic global-business look. Rooms have private balconies with desert views, the spa draws on old Arabian ritual treatments, and Michael Mina runs one of the restaurants. Forbes Four Star.

  6. Seven domes crown the exterior in a nod to Islamic architecture, while inside, art deco geometry plays out in black, gold, and warm yellow under dramatic chandeliers. This Forbes Four Star hotel sits inside the Business Gate complex, which means direct access to the corporate towers and a lobby full of people with very important meetings. All dining and conference space is tucked on the ground floor, keeping the upper floors surprisingly calm.

  7. Canyon-like walls and indoor waterways pull from the shape of Wadi Hanifa, the desert valley cutting through Riyadh, and nearly 700 contemporary works by Saudi artists fill the corridors. This Forbes Four Star hotel pairs cream marble and warm wood with a spa, heated pool, three restaurants, and gardens, all while holding Saudi Arabia's first gold LEED certification. Business travelers and families both find their footing here without much negotiation.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
