The Best Restaurants in Encinitas, by the Record

The best restaurants in Encinitas, by the professional record: Artful Living, Eater, and Michelin Guide have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Leu Leu Leucadia comes out on top.

Atelier Manna and Coffee Coffee hold the next two places. Sprudge shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Eater next.

  1. Rank 2. Atelier Manna

    Californian New American

A covered patio furnished in reclaimed and upcycled wood sets the vibe at this Encinitas brunch spot, which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a spot on the Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants list. The kitchen leans into local ingredients and a short, seasonal menu built for sharing. The nonalcoholic drinks menu gets real attention here, which is rarer than it should be. The crowd skews the kind of people who actually know their farmers.

  2. A massive retro mural reading "Welcome to Leucadia" covers the outside wall, and honestly that sets the tone. Coffee Coffee is a casual coffee shop right on the 101, all big windows and easy light, with seating inside and out. The menu runs the usual espresso route plus an extensive tea list and light breakfast and lunch bites. Surf-town regulars and the unhurried crowd from nearby Bing Surfboards both seem equally at home here.

  3. The roaster sits right behind the bar where you can watch it, which tells you most of what you need to know about this small-batch coffee shop on Coast Highway 101. The roll-up garage door, the metal finishes, and a few tables inside and out keep things tight and unhurried. The owner sources beans across Latin America and Africa and often pulls the shots himself. Old Woodys drifting past on the 101 supply the rest of the ambiance for free.

  4. Tucked into a residential pocket on the Encinitas-Leucadia border, this coffee shop shares a building with an art studio and has the accidental-discovery feel to match. Inside, polished concrete meets warm wood and pops of pink. The coffee program leans into mocktail-style signature drinks alongside seriously sourced Colombian and Ethiopian beans. Baristas will walk you through either side of the menu without making you feel like a philistine for asking.

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
