The Best Pizza Near Uchi, by the Record

  1. Rank 1. Miami Slice

    New York-style Pizza

A wide, foldable New York-style slice in a city that usually wants to put mango on everything takes a certain conviction. Miami Slice is a no-reservations counter in the Arts District, fast and focused, with a short menu of recognizable pies and a crust that stays crisp without going brittle. The line moves constantly between people eating in and people walking out. 50 Top Pizza placed it third in the country for slices.

  2. The wood-fired ovens at the back sit behind what regulars call "the cage," a signature touch from the Caserta-born pizzaiolo that followed him here to Wynwood. This is an upscale pizza restaurant with serious ambitions, dim lighting, designer furniture, and a wine cellar built vertically into the wall, scenic if a little unkind to whoever has to fetch the bottle. The menu runs from straightforward a la carte to a full tasting format. Ranked fifth in 50 Top Pizza USA.

  3. Rank 3. La Natural

    Wood-fired Pizza

Wood-fired pizza in a Little River spot that feels like a party someone forgot to announce, concrete floors, dim lighting, and a natural wine list long enough to make you forget you came for the pizza. The pies come out of a wood-burning oven behind the bar with char that means it, and the crust cold-ferments for two days before it ever meets a topping. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand. Reservations are a good idea.

  4. Rank 4. Lucali

    Wood-fired Pizza

The wood-fired brick oven at the back of this Miami Beach pizza shop is the whole point. It's a Brooklyn transplant with plank floors and chunky tables that feel nothing like South Beach, which is part of the appeal. The 18-inch pie comes out lusciously charred with a light crust, fresh tomato sauce, and basil, and you can dress half differently if your table can't agree. A Michelin Bib Gourmand, which means the prices won't ruin dinner.

  5. Rank 5. O Munaciello

    Neapolitan Pizza

Neapolitan bingo tablecloths, Napoli soccer jerseys on the walls, and an owner who never steps away from the oven: this is a Neapolitan pizza spot in Miami's MiMo District that takes its identity seriously without taking itself too seriously. The dough is well-leavened with a high, airy crust, and the cooking is precise. It ranked 11th on 50 Top Pizza USA. Note that an 18% gratuity is included by default on the bill.

  6. The dough slow-proofs for 72 hours, which explains a lot about the thin, blistered crust on these 13-inch pies. This Michelin-selected pizzeria is tucked into the ground floor of an office building just off Lincoln Road, easy to walk past and hard to forget once you've been. The Italian-born chef imports his flour and takes the whole operation seriously enough to name one pie after a staggering pile of fresh ginger. Small room, big ambitions, South Beach prices.

  7. Rank 7. La Leggenda Pizzeria

    Neapolitan Pizza

The open oven anchors the room on Española Way, and the dough has been cold-fermenting long enough that the crust comes out airy and a little charred at the edges, the way Naples intended. This Neapolitan pizzeria keeps buffalo mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes on the non-negotiable list, and the Italian wine list is short enough to actually read. It ranks eleventh on 50 Top Pizza USA, so the tourists and the locals both know to show up early.

  8. Rank 8. Il Pizzaiolo

    Neapolitan Pizza

The ceramic-topped tables inside this South Beach pizzeria signal that someone cares about the small touches. The Neapolitan pies come out with a high, airy crust built on a long-fermented dough, and the San Marzano tomatoes and fiordilatte are the real kind. Fresh pasta and homemade desserts round out the menu, and the Italian wine list does solid work during happy hour. A pleasant outdoor terrace handles the warm nights.

  9. Rank 9. Heritage

    New York-style Pizza

A pizza shop in Flagler Village that's serious enough about pies to make squash blossom and burrata toppings feel obvious rather than showy. The menu leans New York-style, with a few pastas and salads rounding things out, but the crust is the point. The Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand, and regulars tend to negotiate hard over whether to save room for the olive oil cake. They should.
