More Less
Conrad Indianapolis and St. Elmo Steak House hold the next two places. Michelin Guide shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Esquire next.

The original Art Deco bones of a 1920s Coca-Cola bottling plant are still very much the point here, with exposed industrial detail running through the rooms in the old wing alongside genuinely comfortable modern furniture. The newer addition trades some of the patina for polish, which is a fair swap. The surrounding development packs in coffee, a food hall, and enough going on that you could stay a long weekend without really needing to leave. Michelin awarded it one Key.

Original Warhols and Picassos hang in the Gallery Suite, which tells you something about how this 23-story downtown hotel sees itself. The lobby reads as a working gallery, with rotating exhibitions from the Long-Sharp Gallery filling the walls while guests drift between the lobby bar and a Capital Grille. A sixth-floor indoor infinity pool and a spa give you every excuse to ignore the Indiana Repertory Theatre two blocks away.

The exposed concrete ceilings are original, a souvenir from the Brutalist office block this 90-room boutique hotel used to be. Vivid colors and modernist furnishings do the arguing against all that raw gray, and it mostly works. Local art runs throughout, the rooftop lounge has the skyline and Indy-riffing cocktails, and the Wholesale District outside is in the middle of figuring out what it wants to be next.

A three-story chandelier anchors the lobby of this downtown Indianapolis hotel, which occupies a restored 11-story landmark that's been around long enough to have earned the bones worth restoring. Inside, Italian marble and Indiana-inspired artwork do their civilizing work, while rooms come with proper skyline views, wet bars, and Byredo products for guests who notice such things.
