  4. Perched on the cliffs of Punta Ballena where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez, Esperanza is a 57-suite Auberge resort with the only private beach in Los Cabos, so the seclusion is structural, not just a vibe. Casitas have terraces and ocean views; the Cocina del Mar restaurant is carved into the bluff. The palapa spa goes deep on traditional medicine wheel treatments. Forbes Five Star and two Michelin Keys. Celebrities come, and the Frette linens apparently come standard.

  5. You reach this Forbes Five Star, Michelin two-key resort by passing through a tunnel blasted through Pedregal Mountain, which sets the tone neatly. Every room faces the Pacific, and a personal assistant is assigned before you arrive, ready to arrange dolphin swims, a curandera session at the spa, or a private breakfast beside your plunge pool. This is emphatically not spring-break Cabo; it's the version where someone else handles all of it.

  8. The sail-shaped towers aren't just a design flex; "vela" means sail in Spanish, and this family-owned company leans into it hard. Grand Velas is a Forbes Five Star all-inclusive resort on the Sea of Cortez, which means the open bar and included dining come wrapped in architecture that looks like it's about to catch a breeze and head for the horizon. The kind of place where the biggest decision is which pool.

  9. Rank 9. Metate

    Mexican

Down a dirt road off the hotel strip, this open-air Mexican restaurant earns its Michelin Bib Gourmand with antojitos and wood-fired grilled meats served on a stone patio strung with lights. The name refers to the flat stone used for grinding maize, which tells you where the kitchen's head is at. Blue corn tortillas and squid ink batter show the cooks aren't just playing it safe. Casual, affordable, and easy to miss if you're not looking.

  10. The flan here is famously oversized, which tells you something about the general philosophy. Los Tres Gallos is a big, cheerful Mexican restaurant anchoring a corner of downtown Cabo, built around a grand brick courtyard strung with color, paver stone underfoot, pink and red stucco brightening the walls. The menu runs traditional, think enchiladas, mole, chile rellenos, and a deeply roasted pozole that arrives with enough toppings to keep you busy.

  11. The swim-up bar at Blue Marlin Ibiza says everything: ME Cabo is an adults-only beach resort where the pool party is the amenity, not an afterthought. Spain's Meliá group planted its nightlife-forward ME brand right on Playa El Médano, Cabo's only swimmable beach, and the rooms, each with a balcony, lean into the hedonist brief with counted thread counts and sea views to sleep off the night before.

  12. The showstopping fountain in the center of the room tells you everything: Toro is a pan-Latin American restaurant that wants to be remembered. Large furniture, a buzzy atmosphere, and a menu that swings from Oaxacan cheese-smothered enchiladas to grilled cauliflower in pomegranate and red wine reduction. It's the kind of place where both the carnivores and the vegetarians leave satisfied, which is harder to pull off than the fountain makes it look.

  15. Perched on a private strip of Medano Beach with Land's End framing the view straight ahead, this resort is really a collection of oversized residences, one to four bedrooms, dressed in handcrafted metalwork and natural stone. Some units come with private pools. The scale is more borrowed vacation home than hotel, which means the general chaos of Cabo is close enough for an evening but easy enough to sleep through.

  30. Linoleum floors, bare yellow walls, and a trim menu that hasn't tried to impress anyone in years. This no-frills taco counter serves fish, fried or grilled, on homemade tortillas, with a toppings bar of coleslaw, pico de gallo, guacamole, and salsas so you can build as you see fit. Quesadillas are there if you wander off-script. Cheap, fast, and genuinely close to the water it's sourcing from.

  31. Rank 31. Tacos Gardenias

    Baja Taqueria

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
