Each of the 30 rooms is different, decorated in its own tartan with Georgian antiques and a carved fireplace that looks borrowed from a private members' club, which is more or less what this boutique hotel used to be. Views of Edinburgh Castle come standard. Whisky tastings, afternoon tea, and a pantry stocked with over a hundred malts round things out. It holds a Michelin Key and a Forbes Four Star.
