Alex Lake Zürich

A boutique hotel on the southern shore of Lake Zürich, Alex Lake is the kind of place that sends a boat to collect you from the city, which sets the tone rather well. The building is quietly modernist, the rooms are spacious and warm without being fussy, and the public spaces open generously toward the water. The restaurant and bar both have front-row views of the lake, which does a lot of the decorating.
