    The rooftop pool catches the sea breeze off the bay, which goes a long way toward explaining why guests tend to linger up there longer than planned. This Kimpton hotel sits right in the middle of downtown, with the Gaslamp District's low-rise Victorian blocks and their bars and restaurants essentially at the door. The vibe is what San Diego does well: polished without being stiff, comfortable without being forgettable. A Michelin Selected Hotel.
